Welcome, and a particularly warm welcome to the sun which we have been waiting for!!

The Garden is backward by about about 2 weeks. But, not everyone appreciates the sun and there are lots of seats around the garden to rest and areas of shade such as the Dell and Water garden. I would urge you to pause on your walk sometimes and close your eyes and sniff. Not only the roses but the yellow Philadelphus, Choisya, herbs etc- you might be pleasantly surprised?

The Vegetable Garden -Asparagus has done its bit and will now be left to turn to ferns. The Purple Sprouting Broccolli will be pulled up from the Strawberry Cage and the last shoots harvested. The new potatoes are ready and the Spinach along with salad crops but without rain last month we will need to carefully water.

The Iris Bed is swarming with bees in the Catmint-( Walkers Low). This beautifully sets off the Delphiniums which are doing especially well this year and contrasts with the yellow Iris. On the bank behind is blue chicory-Cihorrum Pumilium

In the shade of the Dell the Bluebells are still dying down and sadly this is also true of the Daffodils in the Daffodil area where the cold has kept some of the leaves green.

The Bog Garden has its water iris in flower-Pseudacorus Variegata and Laevigata Variegata.

The front of the Hall has Rambling Rector in flower and the beautiful  rose Albertine. The scent you can smell comes from the shrub roses in the bed in front of Albertine-Rose de Rescht

Please be careful treading on the gravel at the bottom of the West Lawn. It is full of delicate plants waiting for the sun to bring them to life. Oleander are growing in the 4 large pots.

Enjoy the lovely paeonies at the back of the Hall and you might enjoy walking through the Ox Eye Daisy in the Wild Garden

Do not miss the opportunity to see the very old Liriodendron or Tulip Tree growing next to the Huge Copper Beach on the drive. It is in flower at the moment.

A quantity of unusual fish have been seen close to the surface of the Moat, a marsh orchid in the Fishponds and wonderful electric blue dragonfly.
